Window Units

This is the most basic and generally least expensive type of heat pump. It is relatively simple matter to fit the unit into a window or wall. Not suitable for homes as they are too noisey and don't perform well in heating when very cold.

Split Systems

These units are designed to be more discreet both in appearance and in operation. Split meaning half the unit is inside and half outside.
The outdoor unit contains the compressor, which is the busiest part of the installation.
The indoor unit simply has a fan to circulate the warm or cold air as required. Your indoor environment is quieter with the equipment arranged in this way.

Wall mounted systems, the most common type of heat pumps found in New Zealand fall into this category.

Cassette systems also fall into this category.

Ducted Systems

A larger split system to heat your whole home. The indoor unit is usually installed in your roof space.
Air is circulated throughout the house by a network of insulated ducts connected to the ceiling diffusers and a central return air grille. Always much more expensive than a wall mounted split system.
